President's Message

Jai Gopal, I would like to begin by thanking and congratulating former president of the Vanza Society of Canada Arvindbhai Bharkhada, and committee members for giving a most memorable 2008 full of good times and exciting events. With that being said as the new president of the Vanza I will do my best to carry on the legacy of my predecessors and traditions of our Vanza community. Additionally, with my fellow committee members will continue plan new and revamped events that will both unite and bring joy to our entire community.

Some changes that we have made are constructing a new and more interacting website that will act as a forum for communication between the Vanza committee and community members. We would like to also use our web site to recognize the accomplishments of the young members of our society by publishing their important and inspiring accomplishments on it. Additionally, we would like to promote further education by setting up a scholarship to help members of our society achieve their lifelong goals.

Secondly, one of the new events we would like to try this year is a Valentine’s Day celebration for all of our friends and family, I am confident this glamorous evening will be something that everyone will enjoy and will eventually become a stable in our future years to come.

Lastly, our Vanza committee is committed to making changes in this year’s event by making them more fun and exciting for everyone. We would also like to maintain an open line of communication with our members to allow us to constantly make improvements our website and events, so feel free to e-mail us.

Gold Medal to Dr. Girish Jethwa - Eye Surgeon

Dr. Girish Tulisdas Jethwa, from Anand, India, was awarded a prestigious gold medal at the annual conference of Intra-ocular Implant & Refractive Society in India. The event was held in Chennai on July 10, 2010. Awarded for his outstanding contribution to ophthalmology in India. The gold medal was presented by Mr. Thiru Raja, honorable union minister of communication & technology, Government of India.

Jai Shree Krishna

Shree Trikamji Kalidas Vaghela sadly passed away on September 01, 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya, at the age of 93.

He was father of Dhansukh, Kishor, Harish and Rajnikant.
